I am a painter, teacher and workshop leader. I live on a Pennine farm,  where I have my studio, and work mostly here in Northumberland and in the West of Scotland. I am a countrywoman through and through, for whom the turning seasons, the changing weather are indispensable spiritual food. I paint because I can't not paint, because I passionately feel a part of that intricate and delicate web of relationships which is our natural world, and when I experience, interpret and communicate these through my work, painting or working with groups, I'm energised and joyful.

There are two main strands to my painting: landscape painting,  working mostly outside but sometimes finishing work in the studio, and wildlife paintings, sometimes using sketches made in the field, and adapting and transforming these back in the studio. The two demand radically different approaches: responding emotionally and expressively to the stimulus of the landscape, and the disciplined, almost scientific, work of finding, watching and recording bird life. I love both.
